It is a healthy, vegan soup that is very high in protein. Moong Dal Soup is very flavorful yet simple and easy to make.
Preparation time : 15 mins. Cooking time : 10 mins.Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup dhuli moong dal (yellow dal) - cleaned and washed
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp chopped ginger
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- green chillies - chopped
- coriander leaves - chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
- salt to taste
- Mix together moong dal, chopped onion, ginger, green chilies, turmeric powder, salt and chopped garlic.
- Add five cups of water and boil it.
- Pressure cook for 10 minutes.
- Blend the daal mixture and strain. Keep aside.
- Heat butter in a pan, add cumin seeds.
- Sauté till seeds splutter.
- Add pureed dal, and bring it to a boil.
- Adjust consistency by adding water if desired.
- Add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot.
