Moong Dal Ka Shorba


It is a healthy, vegan soup that is very high in protein. Moong Dal Soup is very flavorful yet simple and easy to make.

Preparation time : 15 mins.         Cooking time : 10 mins.
Serves: 2




Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup dhuli moong dal (yellow dal) - cleaned and washed

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1 tsp chopped ginger

  • 1 tsp chopped garlic

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • green chillies - chopped

  • coriander leaves - chopped

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

  • salt to taste
Method
  1. Mix together moong dal, chopped onion, ginger, green chilies, turmeric powder, salt and chopped garlic.

  2. Add five cups of water and boil it.

  3. Pressure cook for 10 minutes.

  4. Blend the daal mixture and strain. Keep aside.

  5. Heat butter in a pan, add cumin seeds.

  6. Sauté till seeds splutter.

  7. Add pureed dal, and bring it to a boil.

  8.  Adjust consistency by adding water if desired.

  9. Add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.

  10. Serve hot.
