Kadai Paneer


Kadhi Paneer is a delicious main dish for any special occasion. Paneer, onion and capsicum are sauteed in spicy tomato gravy.

Preparation Time: 30 min. Cooking Time: 20 min.
Serves 6.





Ingredients
  • 500 gms  paneer (cottage cheese)

  • 100 gms capsicum cubed

  • 4 tomatoes, chopped

  • 2 medium Onions Cubed

  • 4 tbsp fresh cream / 1 cup milk

  • 2 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds crushed

  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seed (methi dana)

  • 1/2 tsp Jeera (cumin seed)

  •  3/4 tsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)

  • 2tsp red chilly powder

  • 1 green chilly chopped

  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste

  •  2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)

  • pinch of asofetida (heeng)

  • 3 tbsp ghee

  • salt to taste
Method
  1. Slice the paneer and capsicum into cubes.

  2. Heat the ghee, add jeera, methi dana, heeng and ginger garlic paste and cook on a slow flame for a few seconds.

  3. Add the onion and saute till it turn golden brown

  4. Add capsicum and Dhania powder and red chilly powder and cook on a slow flame for 30 seconds. Add little water if masala starts burning.

  5. Add the green chillies and fry again for a few seconds.

  6. Add the tomatoes and cook until the ghee comes on top.

  7. Add the kasuri methi and salt and fry again for a few seconds.

  8. Finally, add the sliced paneer and cook for a few minutes.

  9. When capsicum is done add cream and cook for another 2 minutes.

  10. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
