Kadhi Paneer is a delicious main dish for any special occasion. Paneer, onion and capsicum are sauteed in spicy tomato gravy.
Preparation Time: 30 min. Cooking Time: 20 min.Serves 6.
Ingredients
- 500 gms paneer (cottage cheese)
- 100 gms capsicum cubed
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 medium Onions Cubed
- 4 tbsp fresh cream / 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds crushed
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seed (methi dana)
- 1/2 tsp Jeera (cumin seed)
- 3/4 tsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
- 2tsp red chilly powder
- 1 green chilly chopped
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
- pinch of asofetida (heeng)
- 3 tbsp ghee
- salt to taste
- Slice the paneer and capsicum into cubes.
- Heat the ghee, add jeera, methi dana, heeng and ginger garlic paste and cook on a slow flame for a few seconds.
- Add the onion and saute till it turn golden brown
- Add capsicum and Dhania powder and red chilly powder and cook on a slow flame for 30 seconds. Add little water if masala starts burning.
- Add the green chillies and fry again for a few seconds.
- Add the tomatoes and cook until the ghee comes on top.
- Add the kasuri methi and salt and fry again for a few seconds.
- Finally, add the sliced paneer and cook for a few minutes.
- When capsicum is done add cream and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
